Meeting the challenge
Description
Caricatures of politicians Arthur Fadden, Robert Menzies, Ben Chifley and Bert Evatt gather in a wood on the edge of a city visible in the distance. Fadden carries Menzies' jacket, who stands with his hands on his hips, sleeves rolled up, wearing an exasperated expression. Ben Chifley faces them wearing a medieval suit of armour with the slogan 'Senate Obstruction Armour' across his mid-section. The challenge being posed is the 'Bank bill Election'. Lurking behind Chifley is a diminutive Bert Evatt, wearing an overcoat, collar pulled up and a vexed expression on his face. Cartoon published in the 'Brisbane Telegraph', Thursday 15 March, 1951, p.4.
