France, 1917-06-24. Group portrait of five officers of the 15th Australian Light Trench Mortar Battery, 1st AIF. Left to right: back row: Lieutenant (Lt) Leonard Frederick Morris; Lt Eric Kyle Keys; Lt Walter Morris Gamble (later to win the MC). Front row: Captain William Charles Scurry, MC, DCM; Captain William Ellis Freeman, MC, died of wounds on 1917-12-14. Lt Gamble later served in Burma with Major-General Orde Wingate during World War 2. (Donor L. Mitchell)
