Shimogahara, Japan. 1948-10-11. A visitor to the BCOF farm, Warrant Officer 2 "Snow" Britton of British Commonwealth Base Workshops, lights a cigarette for an old Japanese peasant working as a labourer on the farm, on his way home after the days harvesting is over. The small sickle in the peasant's left hand is used for harvesting.
