Bob Hawke in the back pocket of a cowboy with Saddam Hussein
Depicts a cartoon of the small figure of Australian Prime Minister, Bob Hawke, in the back pocket of a cowboy who is just about to be involved in a gun fight with Saddam Hussein. This satirical cartoon was created by Sean Leahy in response to the First Gulf War (1990-1991). Sean Leahy became the youngest, regularly published cartoonist on an Australian daily newspaper in 1975 when he was 17 years old. He began his career as a cartoonist for the 'West Australian' newspaper and for 8 years studied graphic design and completed a press artist's cadetship at the 'West Australian' . In 1983 he moved to Queensland to draw for 'The Sun' and the 'Sunday Sun'. His work has also appeared in the 'Courier-Mail', 'The Australian', the 'Bulletin' and in several overseas cartoon exhibitions and newspapers, such as the 'LA Times'.
