Wallet 1 of 2 – This Wallet contains letters from 1250 Lance Corporal (later Sergeant) William Leslie (Les) McGrath to Mary Petrie from Liverpool (Sydney), Heliopolis and Tel-El-Kebir (Egypt), Gallipoli, France, and Lincoln and Harefield Park (England) including various hospitals, written between 30 April 1915 and 2 July 1916. The letters describe training in Australia, training and entertainments in Egypt and one letter describes service on Gallipoli. He continues to describe service in France then recounts his experiences recovering in hospitals in France and England [Enteric fever]. Common acquaintances are often mentioned.
