Description

Egypt. C. 1943-06. Seven men, the crew of an RAF Halifax bomber, recovering from spending eleven days adrift in the Mediterranean after engine failure during an attack on a target in Italy in 1943-05. After their rescue, the crew spent leave in Cairo and visited a mosque where they had to change their shoes before entering. One of the crew was 16655 Sergeant C. D. Curnow of SA.
