Description
France. 1943-06-24. Brest/Guipavas airfield, used as a base for Luftwaffe fighters, was attacked on 1943-06-24 by RAF Mitchell bombers, which were escorted by fighters. Taken from one of the attacking bombers, approximately thirty bursts are seen, with a concentration (top left) almost smothering a hangar and its tarmac apron on which aircraft are often parked. One bomb has fallen plumb on a runway - the broad strip running from middle left towards top centre - and two sticks each of eight bombs are bursting across the landing area.
