Flying Officer Desmond F. B. Sheen receives the Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC) from King George VI. Sheen, a former Canberra public servant, joined the RAAF in 1936 and the following year went to England on a short term RAF commission. He was one of the small number of Australians who served with Fighter Command during the Battle of Britain.
