Description
Collection relating to the South African War (Boer War) service of Captain Dr Thomas Alfred Machattie, New South Wales Citizens' Bushmen, Australia and South Africa, 1900-1938.
Collection consists of:
- 1 x letter written by Dr Machattie dated 5 September 1900 to Roy Kinghorn. The letter comments on local South Africans, prisoners, Boer tactics, General De Wet, and General Bayden-Powell. [The 'Arthur' mentioned in the letter is Lance Corporal Arthur David Wallace - see PR00024]
- 1 x photograph of a Reverend James Kinghorn; and
- 1 x magazine cutting featuring a photograph of 'departure of NSW Mounted Infantry from Circular Quay, SS "Aberdeen"'.
