Description

A single sheet from the topographical map series (SWPA T831), covering the area around the towns of Pujut and Lutong in northern Sarawak, and overprinted with enemy defence information. Overprint shows Japanese bunkers, foxholes, trenches and hideouts, artillery positions, possible offshore minefield, coastal beacon, emergency landing ground ("new since Nov"), barracks and stores, new buildings and gardens, prisoner of war camp, as of 9 June 1945. Information from native sources and air photo interpretation. Base map shows the South China Sea coastline, sea depths, sea loading pump station and loading lines, populated places and isolated buildings, roads and tracks, airstrip, telegraph line, oil fields, wells, tanks and refineries, chimney, the Miri River with wharf, jetty and ferry crossings, other rivers and streams, drains, extensive wetland area, cultivated areas and other vegetation features.
