Goodenough Island, D'Entrecasteaux Islands, Papua, 1944-04-11. Makeshift washing trough next to a jungle stream at the Headquarters of No. 71 Wing RAAF. The trough is continuously fed by a pipe placed in the stream and is protected from sun and rain by a rude awning of branches, palm leaves and hessian.
