Goodenough Island, D'Entrecasteaux Islands, Papua, 1944-04-01. Interior of the officers' ward of No. 5 Medical Receiving Station at the Headquarters of No. 71 Wing RAAF. Several of the ward's camp beds are occupied by men recovering from illness or injury. In the background, a Medical Officer (MO) appears to be performing a minor procedure at left, while a nurse is attending a patient at right. Tied up in tight rolls, mosquito nets hang from the rafters above the beds, ready for use at night.
