Collection relating to the Second World War service of NX35266 Private Albert William Dengate, 2/19 Battalion, Malaya, 1941.
Wallet 1 of 1 - Consists of a letter Dengate wrote to his sister Jean from Malaya on 28 December 1941. Dengate writes that he is looking forward to finishing the war and returning home. He also describes his Christmas in Malaya, and discusses family news.
History / Summary
This was the final letter Albert Dengate sent to his sister Jean before he was killed in action during the Battle of Muar on 19 January 1942. The date of Dengate's death coincided with Jean's birthday and distressed her terribly.
