Studio portrait of 8 Sergeant Signaller (Sgt) Frederick James Archibald Richards, 9th Australian Light Horse Regiment. An electric operator prior to enlisting on 28 October 1914, he embarked from Brisbane aboard HMAT Medic (A7) on 2 June 1915. Sgt Richards was killed in action in Mule Gully, Gallipoli, on 16 September 1915. He was 21 years old.
