Description

Collection relating to the Second World War service of Flight Lieutenant Patrick Victor White, Royal Air Force, Ethiopia, c.1939-1945.

Wallet 1 of 1 - Wallet consists of a diazotype copy on drafting linen of a hand-drawn map of Gondar, Ethiopia and subtitled 'Target map prepared by patriot forces in Abyssinia'. The map is annotated in English, noting fascist encampments, the locations of rivers, trees and roads, as well as strategic locations such as an airfield, petrol stations, and the Governor's house. The Fasil Ghebbi fortress-city is titled 'Fasil's Building'.

The map was acquired by Patrick White during his attachment to RAF HQ Khartoum. The original drafters are unknown.
