Description

NX25117 Bombardier Nicholas George Koorey and sister Sadie Koorey. Bombardier Koorey enlisted on 5 June 1940, joining the 2/6 Field Regiment. Bombardier Koorey was one of four brothers who enlisted from the Koorey family; NX18470 Private Kelvin Koorey, NX4633 Lance Corporal Albert Koorey and NX54730 Private Richmond Koorey.

Bombardier Koorey died of wounds in Syria on 20 June 1941. He was the first Australian casualty in the Syrian campaign and was buried in the Beirut War Cemetery. He was 26 years old.
