France, 1917-09-17. Informal group portrait of the "die hards", as they called themselves, of 2nd Section, 4th Australian Machine Gun Company, with one of the unit's Vickers machine guns. They were members of the company who had served in Egypt in 1916. Left to right: back row: 2343 Corporal (Cpl) R. C. Burridge, Geelong, VIC, killed in action 1917-09-24; 3150 Lance Cpl (L/Cpl) B. J.
