Pretoria, South Africa. 1901-11-18. A formal portrait taken outside the Boer Government's Police Headquarters in Pretoria of Captain Casimir V. Sellheim, 4th Queensland Imperial Bushmen, and Major Frederick George Purcell on the day Purcell received command of the 5th Victorian (Mounted) Contingent. The horse that Major Purcell is riding was loaned to him by Captain Sellheim after it had been taken from the Boer General De Witt in February 1901.
