View towards the stern of the aircraft carrier HMAS Sydney, showing Hawker Sea Fury aircraft of either No. 805 or 808 Squadron, 20th Carrier Air Group, RAN Fleet Air Arm, lined up on the flight deck. The ship is pitching and rolling in heavy seas whipped up by Typhoon Ruth in the Korea Strait between Korea and Japan. Later, when the seas became rougher, the aircraft were thrown against each other, causing much damage. (For images from original negatives see P05890.068 and P05890.069).
