Description
Japan, 1951-10-15. A damaged Fairey Firefly aircraft of No. 817 Squadron, 20th Carrier Air Group, RAN Fleet Air Arm, on the flight deck of the aircraft carrier HMAS Sydney outside Sasebo harbour. The aircraft was one of several that were damaged when the carrier ran into Typhoon Ruth in the Korea Strait between Korea and Japan. (Original print housed in P run in AWM Archive Store)
