Description

Album of 100 pages (including inside covers) containing 328 photographs covering the service of Second Lieutenant (later Lieutenant) Jack Riverstone Faviell, Australian Flying Corps. The images are decoratively presented and cover a range of his experiences of embarkation in Melbourne through to AFC training in England. Many personalities are named and captions are frequently descriptive and humorous. Topics include embarkation, ship life, group portraits, and shore leave. Album includes an image of a Camera Gun being used. A public accountant of Sydney, NSW, prior to enlistment, he embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Shropshire (A9) on 11 May 1917. He was promoted to lieutenant in March 1919 and returned to Australia on 8 October 1919. He served with the RAAF during the Second World War.
