A doctor (second from right) administers an injection of morphine to a badly injured soldier from 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR), lying on a stretcher. The wounded man is probably 2/400121 Private Leonard Bruce Smeaton, A Company 3RAR who died of wounds at an American Field Hospital three days later. The "Doctor" is probably 31998 Sergeant Noel William "Doc" Tampling, of 3RAR's Regimental Aid Post (RAP).
