Description
The despatch of books from the Australian Comforts Fund Depot in Exhibition Street to Australian troops in World War II was entrusted to a group of volunteers who all served as nursing sisters in World War I. The group saw that contributed books, about 1500 a week, were cleaned, rebound as necessary and generally put in good order. This photograph shows the group organiser, Mrs Scott Murphy, examining books before despatch.
