England. 1943-09-28. The wedding of 11391 Corporal (Cpl) John Batterham, RAAF, from Corio near Geelong, Vic, and his English bride, took place at Emmanuel Church, Northwood near London, and was described in the BBC programme to Australia, "Anzacs Calling Home". The christening of their son, Perry John, took place at the same church and a description of this ceremony was also given over the air to Australia. The christening robe was sent by the baby's uncle, Alec Batterham (also in the RAAF) from Maryborough, Qld. Four generations attended the ceremony.
