Description
Russia, c. 1916. Soldiers of the Russian Army baking great numbers of loaves of bread to feed the troops. The men in the pits at left are using long poles to place the bread dough in brick ovens. Firewood for the ovens is stacked up next to them and on top of the ovens. The men at right are placing the loaves that have come out of the ovens on large wooden trays for distribution to the troops. This is a stereo image. One half of the image is held at P01863.027.
