Scotland. 1944-01-08. The wedding of Wing Commander (Wg Cdr) J. N. Davenport DFC of Sydney NSW and Miss Sheila McDavid of Ardrossan, Scotland took place at St Cuthbert's Church, Saltcoats, Ayrshire. This portrait shows the bride and bridegroom cutting the cake. The two brothers of the bridegroom were present, Flight Lieutenant P. Davenport as best man and Flight Sergeant K. Davenport as one of the ushers. All three brothers are members of the RAAF on active service in the UK. Wg Cdr Davenport is the Commanding Officer of No. 455 (Beaufighter) Squadron RAAF of Coastal Command.
