Description
The gondola of a US Navy (USN) airship which is tethered to the ground at Cuers airfield, near Toulon in southern France. Visible at left is one of the airship's two engines, with its propeller. In the window next to it, one of the airship's crew can be seen sitting inside the gondola. In the foreground, three US Army Air Force (USAAF) servicemen (left) and two USN servicemen (right) are standing talking and looking at the gondola. A number of sandbags are attached to the base of the airship to help keep it on the ground. (Donor M. Johnson)
