The manuscript provides a brief timeline of McLellan’s service, with detailed entries for a visit to Vietnam 7-23 July 1970. Entries detail McLellan's journey from Brisbane to Nui Dat, Vietnam, and visits to local villages, The Horseshoe, Fire Support Base BRIGID, Hoa Lang, Ann Hut, Dat Do, Beria, Long Die, and the Long Hais. Also describes a medical evacuation due to a bug in a platoon commander’s ear, the defence of the Fire Support Base GALE, ambushes, operations and Australian and American rations, daily life on operations, converted Viet Cong, night routines, R & R (rest and recreation) at Vung Tau, and returning to Australia.
