not titled [Portrait of Jean Mackinnon]
Description
This painting was completed by the British artist and POW of the Japanese, Jack Chalker. The painting depicts Jean Mackinnon and was painted from a photograph (AWM2021.114.2) that was carried by her then boyfriend and later husband, WX8829 James 'Jock' Bagrie of 2/4 M. G. HQ Coy whilst a prisoner of war. Family history states that Chalker and Bagrie became close friends while imprisoned together.
