Collection relating to the Second World War service of VX9534 Lieutenant John Desmond "Johnny" "Des" Peck DCM, 2/7 Australian Infantry Battalion, Second Australian Imperial Force, Australia, Palestine, Greece, Crete, Italy, Switzerland and England, 1939-c. 2000.

Folder 1 of 2 - Contains 54 letters and telegrams from Lieutenant John Desmond Peck to Mr Herbert Frederick Peck, Mrs Jean Peck, and other family members from 1939-1946. Subjects include: training; serving in Palestine and other undisclosed locations; life as a prisoner of war; internment in Switzerland; and repatriation to England. In his letters, Peck offers updates on his recent experiences and asks his parents for news on what is happening back in Australia.

The collection also contains a copy of the poem “Kill That Rumour” by an unknown author.
