Hiro, Japan. 1952-10-18. Sergeants and their Japanese women friends attend a dance held at the Headquarters Australian Army Components Sergeants Mess. Left to right: Sergeant (Sgt) McDonald; Staff Sergeant Len Weston (Headquarters, British Commonwealth Forces, Korea (BCFK)); Sgt Tassie Bullock and Sgt F Franklin. Identified women include Mrs Setsuko Franklin (second from left), wife of Sgt Franklin and Mrs Norie Holzheimer (far right), wife of the photographer Sgt Claude Holzeheimer. This was the first time Japanese wives and friends of mess members were invited to such a function.
