India. C. 1944-08. Wing Commander (Wg Cdr) Earl B. Fielden of Bare, Morecambe, Lancs, receiving the American DFC from Brigadier General William D. Old at a ceremony held behind the Burma front. Wg Cdr Fielden was responsible for the movements of loaded transports during the Wingate airborne invasion of Burma and afterwards flew in two loaded transports himself.
