India. C. 1942. Informal portrait of the late Flight Lieutenant Walter James McKerracher DFM RAAF a member of No. 615 Squadron RAF. Flt Lt McKerracher was awarded the DFM for an attack on Japanese shipping at Akyab, Burma, late in 1942. He was accidentally killed on 13 May 1944 flying with 45 Squadron RAF. An accountant from Cottlesoe WA he is buried at the RAF cemetery, Amarda Road Orrisa in India. He was 34.
