Cylinders of helium gas used to fill a barrage balloon on loan from the US 7th Air Force to the 1st Australian Task Force (ATF). The Australian Field Operational Research Section (FORS) attached radio equipment to the balloon so that, when aloft, it would increase the distance over which communications could be maintained with Special Air Services (SAS) units operating in the field.
