Description
Mauser Model 1934 pistol holster. Brown leather construction with a top flap and brass button stud catch. A spare magazine is in the pouch on the front.
History / Summary
VX1048 Sergeant Leo Alexander Howard was born in Albury in 1919. He enlisted in the AIF in November 1939 into the 2/2nd Field Regiment and served in the Middle East from April 1940. In 1941 he served in Greece and then Crete, where he acquired the pistol and holster from a dead German paratrooper.
He left Crete in June and continued serving in the Middle East with the 2/2nd Field Regiment until August 1942 when he was transferred to the 2/8th Field Regiment. He returned to Australia in February 1943 and later served in the South West Pacific.
