England. C. 1944-10. The airborne lifeboat, dropped by parachute, is a new device of Air Sea Rescue. The lifeboat, made of wood with two buoyancy chambers, twenty seven feet in length, complete with sails, has two motors besides rocket life lines which operate when the lifeboat alights on the sea. These airborne lifeboats are fitted to and dropped from the Warwick aircraft.
