420755 Pilot Officer (PO) Max James Hurley of Neutral Bay, NSW, an RAAF pilot being interviewed by Flying Officer H.H. Stewart during Christmas Eve celebrations for Australian servicemen held at the Boomerang Club in London. A description of the festivities and recordings made by some of the eight hundred men present were broadcast in the BBC Overseas Service programme, ;"Radio Newsreel" on Christmas Day. PO Hurley was killed on 20 February 1944 on operations over Germany while attached to 15 Squadron RAF.
