Duren, Germany. 1944-11. The centre of Duren, fortress town near Aachen, photographed by RAF reconnaissance on 1944-11-18, two days after RAF Bomber Command's daylight attack. All roads are impassable, many buildings are still burning, and the town has been blotted out under the great concentration of bombs.
