Ladbergen, Germany. C. 1944-11. A section of the Dortmund Ems Canal at Ladbergen after Bomber Command's Lancaster attack on the night of 1944-11-21/22. Annotation: A. Both arms of the canal have been penetrated where they cross the River Glane. Some of the camouflage used by the Germans to disguise this point still remains. B. The water from the canal has flowed over the surrounding countryside from the penetrations. C. A large break - 130 feet wide - made in the embankment, allowing the water to drain out of the canal. D. This is a barge ramp, with a vehicle at work. E. Much track activity.
