Heilbronn, Germany. 1944-12. This striking RAF Film Unit photograph taken from a RAAF cine-Lancaster piloted by 420437 Flight Lieutenant B. A. Buckham DFC of Penshurst, NSW, was during the Bomber Command Lancaster attack on the enemy communications centre at Heilbronn on the night of 1944-12-04/05. Fires are blazing through the pall of smoke which rose over the target. Ten minutes after the attack opened there was a very big explosion.
