Collection relating to the Second World War Australian war bride Marcia Doyle (nee Drew) and her journey to Mt. Vernon, USA, 1946.

Wallet 1 of 1 – Wallet consists of two letters, two telegrams and a postcard from Marcia to her mother during her voyage aboard the SS Mariposa, from Australia to San Francisco. Marcia describes the conditions on board; many Australian women suffering from seasickness; the Red Cross providing entertainment and supplies to the women and children; and missing her mother. A postcard with a depiction of the SS Mariposa (with envelope) was also sent by Marcia to her mother during the voyage. Two telegrams (with envelopes) were sent by Marcia to her mother stating her arrival in San Francisco and finally in Mt. Vernon, USA.
