Zeitz, Germany. C. 1945-02. The Zeitz synthetic oil plant photographed by RAF reconnaissance a month after RAF Bomber Command's Allied air attack on 1944-01-16. There is no sign at any attempt at repair work, or of activity of any kind. The plant is a mass of debris amongst a dense concentration of craters. Most of the pipelines are broken, and all the vital parts of the plant have been hit. Large numbers of storage tanks and cooling towers are destroyed or damaged.
