Description
Kohun Khun, Burma. c. October 1945. The grave of VX46921 Warrant Officer Class 2 (WO2) Claude Cuthbert Ivey, 2/4th Reserve Motor Transport Company, at Kohun Khun hospital cemetery. WO2 Ivey died of cerebral malaria and chronic dysentry on 30 September 1943, aged 41. Kohun Khun is fifty five kilometres south of Thanbuyzayat, or approximately 360 kilometres north of Nong Pladuk (also known as Non Pladuk). Photographed by the War Graves Commission survey party whose task was to locate POW cemeteries and grave sites along the Burma-Thailand railway. They also took the opportunity to recover equipment and documents which had been secretly buried, under instructions from senior POW officers, in the graves of deceased POWs.
