Description

Kastel Blijenbeek, Holland. C. 1945-03. "Object of attack - to destroy what is believed to be enemy HQ and command communications". This was the instruction given to a RAF Typhoon Wing of 2nd Tactical Air Force operating from Holland. The objective was a moated castle at Kastel Blijenbeek, five miles south-west of Gochm. An example of the close support given by the RAF to the ground forces in the attack at the northern end of the Siegfried defences.
