Description
Cologne, Germany. C. 1945-03. The twin spires of Cologne Cathedral, apparently little damaged, fling long shadows across the Rhine in this RAF reconnaissance picture, which shows the collapsed superstructure at the western end of Hohenzollern Bridge, and severe new damage to the main railway station (top centre) after RAF Bomber Command's heavy attack on 1945-03-02 in support of the advancing Allied ground forces.
