Collection related to the First and Second World War service of Joe Tilson Lang
Description
Group portrait of members of the 2/2 Pioneer Battalion. The original portrait has been altered and titled "Ali Baba & His 40 Thieves" [top] and " Submarine Light Infantry Regt 1893 [bottom]. Many have pencilled moustaches (including a Hitleresque moustache on the captain on Joe Tilson Lang's right, Lang being the figure centre front with added 'beard' 'Ali Baba']. An aircraft, bird and 1893 have been added to some corners of the print, Joe Tilson Lang has added 'Retouched during my absense JTL' and on the verso he has added his wife's address and a postmarked postage stamp.
