Description
Three photographic postcards: two group shots of portions of the 2nd Machine Gun Battalion, one including Towner himself. One group shot of four officers (including Towner), signed, 'Yours sincerely, E. T. Towner, VC MC, Petit Fayt, Dec. 1918.' Original letter and transcription from Lord William Riddell Birdwood to Towner commenting on Australia's role in the war against Japan, and preparations in England for receiving Australian POW's. Undated but likely to be c. 1944. Copy of The Longreach Leader, dated Friday, 25 August 1972, reporting on Towner's death (18 August), funeral and various tributes.
