Description
Darwin, Northern Territory. 1945-11-02. The remains of a Royal Australian Air Force B24 Liberator aircraft which caught fire shortly after taking off from Darwin and was landed before being destroyed by fire. The crew of eleven and twenty six Australian Army nursing sisters, travelling as passengers, all escaped injury. The nurses were from 2/5th Australian General Hospital.
