Studio portrait of 2645 Private (Pte) James Dickie, 49th Australian Infantry Battalion. A station hand prior to enlisting on 27 June 1916, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Ceramic (A40) on 7 October 1916. Pte Dickie was killed in action, in Belgium, on 26 September 1917. He was 29 years old.
