Description

At the end of the funeral ceremony of a Japanese internee at the Barmera War Cemetery the mourners place on the grave lighted candles and food and drink for the spirit's journey to celestial regions; a little water was sprinkled and a mosquito coil was left burning. The grave marker at left is that of CJ22147 Setsujiro Abe from No 14 Camp of the Loveday Internment Camp Group. The centre marker is that of Toku Ogushiku, while the marker on the right is for Denjiro Shimamura.
